Stannard Advisory Services is a private consulting firm led by Greg Stannard, a Chartered Professional Engineer and Project Manager with over 20 years’ experience in planning and delivery of infrastructure projects in the public sector across local, State and Commonwealth Government.
Greg’s career experience commenced in structural design of bridges and road infrastructure for major projects around Melbourne and Auckland. With this foundation, pre-construction systems thinking and is adapted to meet engineering standards and technical principles, as well as relevant jurisdiction requirements.

Engineering and Project Management
Engineering and Project Management Services, drawing from broad exposure to infrastructure planning and delivery, and Defence sector capability delivery. Founded on critical engineering thinking and first principles design understanding before application into construction. Greg’s early engineering years involved road and dam infrastructure projects in Victoria, then as an Engineer Officer in the Australian Army for 14 years.
First hand experience as a lead engineer or project manager on projects in various remote communities, around Australia and overseas, with application of engineering first principles and agile project management methods for planning, delivery, and/or oversight of works and initiatives often in challenging environments.
Project exposure from concept planning through to completion of various builds, commanding teams to deliver the required outcomes.
Assurance and Advisory Services
Advising industry, Defence and Government teams at operational and strategic levels on Infrastructure and Capability initiatives.
Strategic level planning considerations, tactical delivery, production of supporting documentation, and advising on direction for aligning operations to the chosen market or milestones.
Independent assessments conducted through monitoring reporting, processes and stakeholder meetings to evaluate the project’s health, and likelihood of success. Assessments provided in verbal and written form to government sponsors. Typically involves detailed review of governance frameworks, risk assessments and audits, and communication of the assessments to stakeholders.
Mil Proven solutions
Solutions proven through 16 years experience with the ADF and foreign militaries.
A 14-year Australian Army career as a Civil Engineering Officer, followed by 2 years supporting a nascent GWEO SPO to establishing its strategic frameworks and operational procedures. A Defence career that has involved work with diverse teams on a range of projects, demonstrating high competence in pre-construction planning, infrastructure delivery, team management, acquisition planning and management (CASG) and associated governance for different jurisdiction requirements, in challenging environments, often remote and complex.
This blended experience provides unique and proven background with ability to problem-solve and train and mentor others.
